Abstract: The in variation contents of four types of indispensable major elements: Phosphorus (P), Sodium (Na), Calcium (Ca), and Magnesium (Mg); ten types of indispensable trace elements. Iron (Fe), Strontium(Sr), Copper(Cu), Nickel (Ni), Zinc (Zn), Vanadium (V), Chromium (Cr), Manganese (Mn), Molybdenum (Mo), and Cobalt (Co), and twelve types of other elements: Lead (Pb), Titanium(Ti), Aluminium(A1), Lanthanum(La), Barium(Ba), Silicon(Si), Cerium(Ce), Ytterbium(Yb), Seandium(Sc), Silver (Ag), Cadminm (Cd), and Boron(B) in cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) was measured on 87 patients suffering from headache and 66 patients without headache. A significant increase in Ni (p <0.05), Ce, Yb, Sc, Ag, and B (p <0.01); a significant decrease in Fe (p <0.05), Na, Ca, Mg, Sr, Zn, Al, and Ba (p <0.01) and no change in P, Cu, V, Cr, Mn, Mo, C, Pb, Si, Ti, La and Cd were found in cases suffering from headache in comparison with those in headache-free eases. The results indicate that variation in many chemical elements is associated with headache- bearing patients. Its mechanism and significance remain to be studied.
