Abstract: Multiple sclerosis (MS) and neuromyelitis optica (NMO) are central nervous system demyelination disease. The treatment with traditional Chinese medicine can improve nerve function defect and prevent from recurrence. Up to date, there is no standard for the traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment and specification. After questionnaire survey and comprehensive discussions, experts from the brain disease branch of Beijing Chinese medical association summarized and reviewed the traditional Chinese medicine disease diagnosis, syndrome diagnosis and syndrome differentiation treatment of MS and NMO, sorted out and standardized the specific treatment methods and medication.Finally the MS/NMO diagnosis and treatment standard was established. We hope that the MS/NMO patient will receive a standard treatment of traditional Chinese medicine with the standard of diagnosis and treatment applied.
