Abstract:

Surgical treatment of the maxillary prognathism was performed on 20 cases.This group,included 10 male,and 10 female,aged between 18 and 28 years,with an average of 21.4.The diagnosis of all the patients was confirmed by cephalometry.The operative modus was planed with tbe model surgery Two operative modi were used.The anterior maxilla osteotomy was used in 13 cases,in which the occlusion of the molars was approximately normal but the anterior part of the maxilla was more convexed than normal.The alveolar bone osteotomy was used in 7 cases,in which only the dental arch or anterior teeth was convexed than normal.A high successful rate was achieved with few complication.All treatments were done with the co-operation between maxillo-facial surgery and orthodontics.All of post-operative patients had been followed up with Roentgeno-cephalometry,which proved that the treatment was successful,the occlusions of anterior teeth were entirely normal, and the operative resulls stable,
