Abstract: The aim was to investigate dignosis and the best treatment technique for displaced and defective fractures of the tibal plateau by surgery. Treatment of sixty-eight patients with fracture of tibial plateaus fracture in 1996—2003 year were analyzed retrospectively. 68 cases were followed up ranging from 10～72 months, with an average of 23 months. The excellent and good rate was 89.7% on Merchant grading system. It suggests that it is optimal to perform open reduction and internal fixation for displace fracture of the tibial plateau, to support normal relation ship and good reduction by strong fixation, and allograft implantation for defective fracture. It is an effective way to move about knee joint early after operation to get the best healing function.
