Abstract: Objective To investigate the difference in the richness and diversity of the parotid microflora between juvenile recurrent parotitis(JRP) and the normal children. Methods The parotid saliva specimens were obtained from JRP and normal children(34 specimens from JRP,16 specimens from normal children) to analyze the diversity of the 16SrRNA gene sequence of of the microorganism using Illumina Hiseq 2500 PE250 high throughput sequencing platform. Results Compared with normal children, JRP had higher goods_coverage(P< 0.05), lower Chao1, abundance coverage estimator (ACE), Shannon (P < 0.05) and lower Simpson (P > 0.05).Conclusion Significant changes in the richness and diversity of parotid microflora between JRP and the normal children.

Key words: juvenile recurrent parotitis (JRP), oral microflora, diversity, richness, parotid saliva
