Abstract: Department of Cardiology of Capital Medical University has been painstakingly constructed for 50 years, and has achieved fruitful outcomes both in clinical and research work. Considering the common threat of cardiovascular disease against the health of the public and the weakness aspects in this area, we focused our research on cardiovascular disease epidemiology, early diagnosis and treatment strategies of coronary heart disease, radical cure of atrial fibrillation, use of integrated traditional and western medicine in cardiovascular disease and formed a new preventioncure mode. Following the situation in our medical system reform, we carried out a largescale survey of risk factors for cardiovascular disease and explored new relative factors, combined prevention with treatment to establish a communitycontrol model of cardiovascular disease. Stable research teams, reasonable echelon structure and satisfactory academic atmosphere laid the foundation for sustainable development in discipline construction.
