Abstract: Recently hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is considered the third gasotransmitter and exerts important biological effects in mammals. Studies found that H2S could reduce ischemia reperfusion injury in heart, lung, liver, kidney and intestine. The mechanisms were related to opening of ATP sensitive kalium channel, reducing free radical formation, and inhibiting cell apoptosis and inflammation. The present article reviewed the effect and mechanisms of H2S on ischemic reperfusion.

Key words: gasotransmitter, hydrogen sulfide, ischemic reperfusion
