Abstract:

Objective To elucidate the mechanisms of α-Syn inhibiting N-methy-D-asparatic acid(NMDA)receptors activities in hippocampal neurons. Methods Whole-cell patch-clamp recording was used to assess the effects of α-Syn on the NMDA currents in normally cultured hippocampal neurons. Results Peak amplitude of NMDA-evoked currents in cultured hippocampal neurons decreased significantly compared with that of NMDA currents in normally cultured hippocampal neurons. Conclusion These results suggest that α-Syn reduce the number of hippocampal neuron membrane NMDARs, and inhibit the activity of NMDARs.
