Abstract

Abstract: Pharmaceutical Medicine is a branch of medicine, focusing on the research and development of innovative drugs, involving clinical research and evaluation of drugs, supervision and approval by drug administration departments and so on. Since the middle of the 20th century, pharmaceutical medicine has been developing continuously in developed countries like the United Kingdom. It has gradually formed a set of systematic pharmaceutical medical personnel training system, making a great contribution to the global public health and wellness. At present, China is in a critical period of transformation from generic drug production to innovative drug research and development, and many pharmaceutical and medical professionals with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience are urgently needed. Therefore, it is particularly necessary to explore the construction of pharmaceutical disciplines and to improve the early systematic education of new drug research and development talents. In this paper, the development history and current situation of pharmaceutical medicine worldwide were reviewed. Furthermore, the thoughts and suggestions on the construction of pharmaceutical medicine in China were put forward, and the current exploratory work was briefly introduced.
