Abstract: The highly porous biodegradable cell scaffolds of poly(ethylene glycal/butylene terephthalate)were prepared with a solution-casting and porogen particular-leaching technology. A method of a graduated cylinder was used to measure the porosity of the porous scaffold. It was found that the porosity of the porous scaffold increased with the porogen weight fraction, independent of porogen particle sige. As the content of the butylene terephthalate copolymer increased, the porosity of the porous PBT scaffold decreased. The median pore diameter depended on the sige of porogen particle. It was also found that the cartilage proliferated in the PEG/PBTscaffolds and secreted extracellular matrix(ECM).

Key words: poly(ethylene glycal/butylene), porous cell scaffold, porosity
