Subgroups of Peripheral Blood T Lymphocytes in Elderly Patients with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome

Abstract: The objective was to investigate the changes of subgroups of peripheral blood Tlymphocytes in elderly patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS).Methods Subgroups of peripheral blood Tlymphocytes in211patients,including 40 elderly patients with SARS were detected by flow cytometer.Results The number of CD3,CD4,and CD8 lymphocytes all significantly decreased in acute phase of patients with SARS.The counts of CD3,CD4 ,and CD8 lymphocytes decreased more apparently in elderly patients with SARS.Conclusion The cellular immunity is damaged in SARS patients,more apparently in elderly patients with SARS.
