WPRIM is an important part of the Global Health Libraries Project, and as one of the six major medical indexes of the Global Index Medicus (GIM), it has a high level of influence in the world, and it mainly contains information on titles (including abstracts) of journals and grey literature published by member countries of the Western Pacific Region of WHO in the fields of health and biomedicine. 2024, in the 12th batch of the review of WPRIM journals, the committee recommended 15 Chinese biomedical journals to be selected for inclusion in the WPRIM.

The Journal is a comprehensive academic journal of medicine and health care under the supervision of Beijing Municipal Commission of Education and hosted by Capital Medical University. It is selected for “A Guide to the Core Journal of China”, “The key magazine of China technology”, “The core journal of China biomedicine”, and it is a 'double-effect' journal of “Chinese Periodicals Matrix”, and has been indexed by many domestic and foreign retrieval systems.
