Clinic visiting rate of medical students and its influencing factors

Abstract: Objective To analyze the health condition and the influencing factors of medical students and to provide the basis for the medical schools in development of corresponding measurements focusing on health education of students. Methods Based on clinic visiting data of Capital Medical University from May 1, 2010 to April 30, 2011. We analyzed the monthly clinic visiting rate of different diseases and disease distributions. We analyzed the average male and female college students in outpatient department, the proportion of students in different grades and different monthly clinic visiting rate of students coming from different locations, we also analyzed the distribution of different diseases in outpatients. Results For one month in average, much more female students than male students(22.9% and 13.2% of outpatients, P<0.05) visited the clinic; The students who came from other cities were much more than those from Beijing(26.3% and 15.3%, P<0.05); Significantly more students in grade two and three than students in grade one and four(24.9%, 25.6% and 12.6%, 12.6%, P<0.05) visits the clinic. For the distribution of different diseases, 48.2% had respiratory diseases, 14.3% had gastrointestinal disease, the other diseases only accounted for 37.5%. Conclusion Due to the special learning and living environment of medical students, we should develop appropriate measures to make appropriate medical and health education on medical students.
