Abstract:

Holmium is a late-mode of solid pulsed laser. It has favorable effect in cutting soft tissues, vaporization, hemostasis and coagulation. It has a good ability in cutting tissue and its penetration is superficial therefore it is accurate to control. Holmium laser causes little thermal injury, it can be used to make precise incision, and is good in directivity. It can be transmitted by soft optical fiber and is highly suitable for gastroscopy. This article summarized the application of holmium laser in digestive system diseases, such as gastric bezoar, early digestive system cancer, esophageal stenosis, upper gastrointestinal polyps and so on.

Key words: holmium laser, digestive system, gastroscopy, gastric bezoar
