Abstract:

In order to investigate the method of monitoring the blood concentration of propofol and the propofol parmacokinetics, 22 neurosurgery patients were infused with propofol 2 mg/kg by induction. The infused time was 30 s.After 1,2,3,4,5,10,15,20 min of induction, the blood concentrations of propofol were monitored with high performance liquid chromatography. The time dose relationship shape was charted. The high performance liquid chromatography was a good method to monitor the blood concentration of propofol. It took very short time for propofol to get to peak concentration. After 1 min if induction, the blood concentration of propofol was 9.06 mg/L,and decreased rapidly. This result correlated with the fast induction and quick wake of patients. In this study the blood concentration of propofol was higher than in other study after 1 min of induction, perhaps this is related to infused speed and time.
