Abstract: To investigate the clinical significance of c-myc protein expression in breast cancer, the expression of c-myc protein in 116 breast cancer tissues was examined using immunohistochemical methods(SP). Nuclear expression of c-myc protein was detected in 11.2% of tumors, and it was related to prognosis. Cytoplasmic expression of c-myc protein was present in 93.1% of the carcinomas. Moderate to strong c-myc protein expression in cytoplasmic was associated with the positive status of ER. The result shows that nuclear expression of c-myc protein appears to be an important prognostic factor. To investigate the expression of c-myc protein in breast cancer may to some extent act as guidance to the therapy of breast carcinomas.
