Abstract: To investigate the effect of continuous low dosage gastrointestinal dialysis in uremic patients ,fifty-eight patients with uremia were divided into two groups at random, the treatment group in which thirty patients were given non-absorbed mannitol solution and the control group in which twenty eight patients were given Coated Aldehyde Oxystarch. After treatment, there were significant improvement of uremic symptoms, living quality and nutritional satatus, significant reductions of serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, serum phosphorus and uric acid, and significant increment of creatinine clearance in the treatment group. The results of the treatment group was obviously better than that of the control group (P<0.01). Either in treatment group or control group, no significant changes in blood pressure、 body weight、total plasma protein、serum albumin、proteinuria and urine amout were observed. The results showed that the effect of continuous low dosage gastrointestinal dialysis in uremic patients was obvious. It might play an important role in delaying the progression of chronic renal failure.
