Abstract: It is reported that remaining decidua and villi are found in the uterus of some patients who have uterogenic bleeding after mifepristone induced abortion. The purpose was to study the expression of progesterone receptor(PR)in these remaining tissues(n=19)by immunocytochemical LSAB methods. PR was mainly distributed in glandular epithelium, peripheral musculodermic cells, endometrial stroma cells, vesicular endothelium and musclar cells in uterus. These tissue showed positive or strong positive. The remaining chorion villi showed weak positive. Decidual showed negative, despite a few positive cells that were extra-chorion trophoblast and vescular endothelium. PR in the endometrium and decidua were significantly different(P<0.01). This study indicates that the residue of decidua and villi after mifepristone induced abortion are not caused by PR in these tissues.
