Abstract: The objective of this study was to investigate whether the liquid extract of Jiunaoyizhi capsule has a protective effect on neuronal impairment of the aging mice induced by D-galactose. Several antibodies were applied to detect the immunoreactive positive neurons in hippocampus. It was found that in the D-galactose induced aging mice the Akt/PKB, CREB and Bcl-2 is as well as PP-1 positive neurons decreased obviously, but AIF and Bax increased significantly. The mice treated with 0.3 g/kg liquid extract of raw herbs could make these changes normal. The small dosage of jiunaoyizhi has effect on the impairment of signal pathway of hippocampal neurons in the aging mice. But the unexpected result was that the 1.0 g/kg liquid extract exerted no such effect.
