Abstract: With the improvement of people's attention to postoperative visual function, visual evoked potentials (VEP) are applied extensively in perioperative period. It plays an important role in visual pathway tumor related surgery and early diagnosis of optic neuritis and so on. However, there are many influencing factors for VEP monitoring, among which the anesthesia methods and  use of narcotic drugs are common influencing factors. This review analyzed the recent progresses of related VEP research, and discussed improvement of the success rate of VEP monitoring in perioperative period, so as to promote the protection of visual function in perioperative period.
