Abstract: The relationship between the pro-duction of Lectin and adherence to epithelial cells together with extracellutar protease activity in 23 strains of P.aeruginose (PA) was studien The findings are as follows: 1.12 strains were high-Lectin pro-ducers (1:128-1:512),one strain was the low-Lectin producer (1:16), the rcmaning 9 strains were non-Lectin producers 2.Adherent ability of the former was stronger than that of the lat-ter two. 3.The proteaseactivity produced in the Lectin-producer was signi-ficantly higher than that produced in the non-Lectin producer 4.The hemagglutinating activity of Lectin was inhibited by galac-tose and the bacterial adherence was in part inhibited.
