Abstract: Seventeen-day-old to nineteen day-old-fetal ovaries was allotransplanted heterotopically(under the renal capsule and subcutaneous tissure in neck) to bilaterally ovariectomized adult Wistar rat.Restoration of cyclic activity about 25 day or so after transplantation was found by observing ovariectomized adult recipient vaginal smears.Transplanted ovarian necrosis can be observed on day 5 after transplantation in subcutaneous group, there was no obvious necrosis in renal capsule group. Both of the two groups have a lot of primordial follicles on the day 10. Developing follicles of different stages, corpora lutea and interstitial gland existed on day 25 or later. This study showed that the allotransplanted fetal ovaries could live, grow well and secret steroid hormone.
