Abstract:

The evidence of dwarfism like manifestation of rat was found by hypodermic adminstration of MSG 4 g/kg every other day to the newborn rats under 10 d after birth. The development of rat pituitary gland was observed on the 11 th day(newborn stage), 52 th day(puberty) and 100 th day(adult). Using the antiserum against GHas the primary antibody,we examined 48 cases of pituitary specimens stained immunohistochemically with PAP, divided into six groups. The results showed: The mean area of GHpituicytes in experimental groups were decreased as compared with that in control group.GHpituicytes in control groups were stained less dense than those in experimential groups( P<0.001) .Thus, the MSGcan induce dwarfism with GHdeficiency in rat. It can depress the deveolpment and maturity of GHpituicytes. It can also decrease the GHreleasing.
