    The spinal pre EPSP (the pre EPSP) could be evoked at the soma of the Mauthner cell in the crucian carp by direct stimulation of the spinal cord. The pre EPSPwas different from the spinal EPSPwith its shorter latency (1.33±0.21) ms , lower amplitude (2.22±1.08) mV , shorter duration (2.65±0.83) ms and lower threshold (3.49±0.74) V . The excitability of the Mauthner cell could be modulated by the pre EPSP, which was probably mediated by the afferent pathway of larger diameter, faster conduction velocity, and mixed monosynaptic relay.

    Experimental hypoxia for 4 ,8 and 12 h respectively was induced in rats.The lung sections were stained with routine method and Nitro BTmethod for succinate dehydrogenase activity. The area of capillary cavity,size of endothelial cell and colour data were measured with image analysis equipment.The results showed that the area of capillary cavity and size of endothelial cell became increased along with the prolongation of hypoxia time, and the activity of succinate dehydrogenase became decreased along with the prolonged hypoxia time.

    The cytotoxic effects of NDV(Losota-4)were investigated on multicellular spheriods of human lung adenocarcinoma A549.Spheriods of A549 were cultured at 37 ℃,5% CO2 for three days in various titers of NDVranging from 1/20,1/100 to 1/500 and then the diameters of sphriods were counted and cell proliferation from spheriods and their adhesion to culture surface were observed. The results indicated that the mean diameter of spheriods was decreased in all titers (P<0.05). Titers of NDVfrom 1/20 to 1/100 can inhibit cell proliferation from A549 spheriods and adhesion to culture surfaces.

    The evidence of dwarfism like manifestation of rat was found by hypodermic adminstration of MSG 4 g/kg every other day to the newborn rats under 10 d after birth.The development of rat pituitary gland was observed on the 11 th day(newborn stage), 52 th day(puberty) and 100 th day(adult). Using the antiserum against GHas the primary antibody,we examined 48 cases of pituitary specimens stained immunohistochemically with PAP, divided into six groups. The results showed: The mean area of GHpituicytes in experimental groups were decreased as compared with that in control group.GHpituicytes in control groups were stained less dense than those in experimential groups( P<0.001) .Thus, the MSGcan induce dwarfism with GHdeficiency in rat. It can depress the deveolpment and maturity of GHpituicytes. It can also decrease the GHreleasing.

    Wistar newborn rats were injected subcutaneously with monosodium glutamate (MSG<320 mg). On the 52 th day, the body weight, length and the weight of immune organs——thymus and spleen were reduced significantly as compared with those in the normal rats. The immune function of rats was lower than that of the normal rats ( P<001).Morphological observation showed: The nucleus arcuatus was apparently smaller and the number of neurones became obviouly less than those in the normal rats. The results of immunohistochemical tests revealed that the number of the growth hormone secreting cells in the pituitary glands of rats treated with MSGbecame smaller. We consider that :① The reason for retarded growth of pituitary glands and immune organs is the damage of nucleus arcuatus induced by MSG, thus decreasing the secretion of growth hormone releasing factor(GHRF), therefor the secretion of growth hormone in pituicyte is insufficient. ② Poor growth of the immune organs(thymus and spleen) affects the normal development and normal immune response of T,Blymphocytes in the organs. So the immune function of rats treated with MSGis reduced.

    Progesterone receptors in reproductive system (including ovary,fallopian tube,uterus and vagina),pituitary gland and cerebrum of female mice were studied by immunocytochemical LSABmethod in order to show the distribution of receptors and the relationship between the receptors and blastula implantation.Progesterone receptors distributed mainly in uterus and vagina,and only a few in fallopian tube.The receptors were located in nuclei, but not in cytoplasm.No positive reaction could be detected in ovary, pituitary gland and cerebrum.The amount changes of the receptors in the endometrial epithelium and the uterine stroma were consistent with the development of blastula implantation.These data suggest that the progesterone receptors are closely related with the endometrial preparation for blastula implantation.

    Adult male rats were used and divided into two groups,i.e.normal control group and experimental “spleen deficiency" group.The experimental rat had been feeded with the decoction of Da Huang.The animals of two groups were killed simultaneously on 42th day. The epididymis of two groups were observed morphologically and cytochemistry. Results of experimental “spleen deficiency" group. The duct of epididymis became into irregular and its wall thinner.The intercellular substances showed hydropic change.Cytochemical results of experimental “spleen deficiency" group. The activity of LDH and SDH in the part of caput epididymidis showed potentiation.The reactivity of SDH and 3-β-HSDH in the part of corpus epididymidis showed potentiation. The reativity of SDH and 3-β-HSDH in the part of cauda epididymidis showed deminution.This study demonstrates hydropic change.Changes in the structure and metabolism. Such changes might influence the physiological maturation of sperms.

    The third instar larvae of Aedes albopictus were treated with two doses (0.697 nmol/Land 1.393 nmol/L)of fendona.The content of protein and activities of proteinase and carboxylesterase in the fourth instar larvae were determined by biochemical method.The protein content increased strikingly as compared with that of the control group.The activities of proteinase and carboxylesterase were lower than those of the control groups.The result showed that fendona inflences markably the protein content and activities of proteinase and carboxylesterase in larva of mosquito.

    In order to survey the state of gonococcal and chlamydia trachomatis infection among the high risk population of sexually transmitted deseases,the urogenital swab specimens from 232 prostitutes were examined by gonococcus culture and polymerase chain reaction for chlamydia trachomatis.The population characteristics of the 232 prostitutes were analyzed.Results were as follows:the infection rate of gonococcus and chlamydia trachomatis were 27.2% and 30.2%,respectively. The combined infection rate among the 63 positive gonococcal infection cases was 20.6% of the 232 prostitutes. Conclusion:There were much higher prevalence of gonococcal and chlamydia trachomatis infection among the high risk population of sexually transmitted diseases. They are likely to cause rapid and massive spcead.Therfore, all the concerned should pay much attention to the prostitutes.

    In order to observe the effect of colony stimulating factor on proliferation of malignant cells of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) CD34+HLA DR+ cells which contain ph 1 chromosome and BCR/ABLrearrangement were separated from 8 CMLbone marrow sample by two step MoAb magnetical microbeads separating method,and the effect of colony stimulating factor(SCF IL-3 and Epo)on proliferation of this kind of cells were observed in vitro. The results indicated that elimination of malignant cells was delayed for 14 d in colony stimulating factor liquid culture as compared with liquid culture without colony stimulating factor(P<0.05).This observation indicates that colony stimulating factor may prolong the survival time of malignant cells of CMLin vitro.

    The human Hrs cDNAwas cloned from human placenta library. It was 2910 bp in length encoding a protein of 777 amino acids with a calculated molecular weight of 85550.Comparison of human Hrs cDNAand deduced amino acid sequence with their mouse couterpart, it shared homo logy of 85% in nucleotid sequence and 92.5% in amino acids sequence, respectively. The human Hrs also contained a zinc finger like domain, a proline rich region and a proline and glutamine rice region.

    Changes in PRA,ANGⅠ,ANGⅡ,urinary EGF,sugar,NAG,Ua,and γ-GT excreation of patients after operations of hypophysoma and tumor under cerebellar tentorium and brain trauma were observed in this article.PRA,ANGⅠ,ANGⅡ,urinary sugar,NAG,γ-GT excreation rose in contrast with control( P<0.05 or < 0.01 ).Urinary EGF, Ua excreation fell in contrast with control( P< 0.01 ).Urinary EGFwas negatively correlated to urinaty NAG,γ-GT( P<0.05).

    PreS1 and anti preS1 of HBVin sera of patients with acute (19 cases) and chronic (103 cases) hepatitis Bwere detected with synthetic preS1 peptides and anti serum from the immunized mice. Results:The positive rates of preS1 and anti preS1 were 84.2% and 89.5 % in the acute hepatitis Band 25.0% and 84.2% in the cronic hepatitis B,respectively. The agreement rate of preS1 with HBV DNA and HBeAg were 89.3% and 87.5% respectively. The anti preS1 was positively related with anti HBs. These results suggest that preS1 is the reliable marker of HBV replication, whereas anti preS1 reflects convalensce of the patients with HB and clearance of HBV.

    We evaluated oxidative modification of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and antioxidants in 59 children with adiposis simplex and 75 control subjects to explore the mechanism of atherosclerosis in adiposis simplex . It was found that blood oxidized LDL (ox-LDL) was higher and vitamin Elevel was lower in adiposis than that in controls. Serum total antioxidant ability had no significant difference between the two groups. Both linear correlation and mul factor stepwise regression analysis revealed that Rohler index was positively correlated with ox-LDL, and was negatively correlated with vitamin E. The results suggested that oxidative modification of LDL was the basis of atherosclerosis in adiposis simplex. Oxidative modification of LDLwas related to lower vitamin Eand higher triglyceride levels. Replenishing vitamin Eand lowering triglyceride should be important measures for preventing atherosclerosis in children of adiposis simplex.

    From 1965 to 1996,940 patients with esophageal carcinoma were treated in our hospital. 32 cases aged less than 40 years old, accounting for 3.4% of all the patients.We could summarized their six clinical features from the records: a: lower heredity, b:preponderance in male,c:higher misdiagnosis rate ,d:predominant mid esophageal localization, e:higher removal rate,f:less postoperative complication.These tendencies suggested that:for the young patients with esophageal carcinoma,one should diagnose and operate as early as possible.And for those who had been diagnosed late surgical and adjuvant treatment could also be offered.

    The morphologic changes of the endometrium were studied in 158 patients using IUD (144 patients were childbearing age, 14 were menopause age). The results showed that the morphologic features of endometrium were asynchronous with the menstrual cycle (63.4%). The foreign gaint cells were significantly increased with time (P<0.01). However neutrophilic granulocytes, plasma cells and monocytes remained unchanged. The results suggested that asynchronism of endometrium and blastocyst development may be one of the main contraceptive mechanism of IUD.

    Clinical Characteristics of Acute Serious Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in Elder

    The clinical characteristics were compared between 52 cases of acute serious CO poisoning in elders and 54 cases in the ages between 14~59.The cerebral edema was the most frequent complication in both groups.The incidences of cerebral infarction,myocardial injury and late neurological symptoms were significantly higher in elder group(P<0.01,P<0.05 and P<0.05 respectively).The occuring rates of crush injury and hypotension in the aged group were lower than in the other group (P<0.05 and P<0.01 respectively).The results showed that the hemorrheological changes and functional breakdown of the tissues in elders constituted the pathological basis for the complications.
