In the Crucion Carp,the axon of the Mauthner cell and,at the same time,the spinal afferent pathway were activated by stimulation of the spinal cord with single rectangular pulse and the evoked responses of the Mauthner cell in the medulla oblongata were intracellularly recorded. The results showed that although spinal stimulation always induced antidromic action potential with a notch on its descending limb, there was no inevitable relation between the notch and the action potential itself. Each of them could be independently induced by suitable stimulation. The spike like notch potential and the successive small depolarizing response were inseparable and made up a compound EPSPwhich was named by us the spinal pre-EPSP(simply pre-EPSP).The pre-EPSPwas also induced by stimulation of the spinal afferents as the spinal EPSP,but with smaller amplitude,shorter latency and lower threshold, so that it was often activated togather with Maxon.

Some biological charateristics(proliferation response, cytotoxicity,phenotype)of PHA-LAKcells under different preming and cultivating conditions were studied. The proliferation responses showed that the number of PHA-LAKcells after co priming for 48 h with PHA/rIL-2 declined dramatically during the first two days, and reached the peak value of proliferation on the same day(day 6 after priming)as did those PHA-LAKcells primed with PHAalone under the same cultivating condition, and the differences in the peak value and multiplication fold on every same day between the PHApreming alone and the PHA-LAKco priming group were statistically insignificant(P>0.05). The cytotoxicity results showed that the peak time of cytotoxicity of PHA-LAKcells co primed with PHA/rIL-2 against K₅₆₂ and Raji cell reached on day 6 after co priming, two days earlier than that of PHA-LAKcells premied with PHAalone and the peak value of the former against Raji cells was higher than that of the latter(P<0.01). The phenotype analysis showed that about 0.60～0.77 of PHA-LAKcells were CD3⁺ cells under different priming and cultivating condition, and CD3⁺,CD8⁺ cells of PHA-LAKprimed with PHA/rIL-2 were more than those of PHA-LAKprimed with PHAalone(P<0.05).

Stoichiometry of catalytic reaction by enzyme can be researched by scanning spectrophotometry. The difference absorption spectra at wave lengths between 200 and 400 nm were observed after starting the reaction at different time until no further change in the absorption profile could be detected.Therefore it was obtained that the absorption spectra of conversion of m hydroxybenzoate to protocatechuate by meta hydroxybenzoate 4-hydroxylase changed following the time. Concentration of each component was calculated from the molar extinction coefficient. The molar ratioes of substrate to product in two independent experiments were 1:0.998 and 1:1.085 respectively,indicating a good accord to the reaction by the MOB4 HO ase extracting from Co. testosteroni KH122-3S and Aspergillus niger genera.

Baicalin(Bai)and verapamil(Ver)inhibited the contractions of isolated rat aortic strips evoked by norepinephrine(NE),KCl and CaCl₂. They also caused the dose response curves to shift rightward and depressed the maximal response,but Bai was less potent than Ver. Both Bai and Ver inhibited the fast contraction responses evoked by NEin Ca²⁺ free medium and slow Ca²⁺ dependent component on contraction. The results indicated that Bai like Ver, may be a calcium antagonist.

Two patients with severe aplastic anemia(SAA)treated by syngeneic BMTand allogeneic BMTplus peripheral blood stem cell transplantation(PBSCT)respectively were reported. The patient suffering from SAA Ⅱ had an identical twin brother. He received brother's marrow transfusion(1.5×10⁸/kg)alone and had sustained recovery of PBcounts and marrow haemopoiesis.He is alive and works normally more than 4 years. Another patient with very SAA(vSAA)and had an HLAfull matched(HLAtyping, cross matched MLCand DRB PCR/printing)brother as donor. He had received previous transfusion 12 times. He was administered four daily doses of Cy(50 mg/kg×4, total 200 mg/kg)alternating with three doses of ATG(25 mg/kg×3, total 75 mg/kg)followed by a HLAidentical marrow graft(2.7×10⁸ /kg,0 d)and peripheral blood stem cell(PBSC)transfusion(CD34⁺cells 3.85×10⁵/kg,+1 d). Methotrexate(MTX)and cyclosporine A(CSP)were administered to prevent GvGH. His PMNs increased more than 0.2×10⁹/Lsince +14 days and RBCantigen from MNbecame NN(donor′s source)at +61 d. However,he was complicated with systemic MRSAinfection since +12 d and followed by abscess of thoracic vertebra.The managements for abcess were effective and the patient is recovering. The article also discussed some problems with treatment of SAA.

One hundred cases of coronary heart disease were divided into the following three groups: CHDsinus rhythm group,paroxysmal Af group and permanent Af group. Results showed that the LADvalue of group 1 is shorter than that of group 2 with significant statistical difference(P<0.05).The occurrence of mitral regurgitation increases with the increase of LAD. The result of this article suggests that when paroxysmal atrial fibrillation(Af)happens in clinics, active measures should be taken to control the attack so as to prevent the worsening of ischemia and hypoxia of the patients' heart. Colour Doppler echocardiographic instrument is one of the simple and easy to operate means for dynamic inspection of LADand mitral regurgitation changes.

epatocyte transplantation had been used for hepatic support and gene therapy. Except for in spleen and portal vein,hepatocytes are difficult to live and maintain hepatic tissue speciality.This study dealed with attaching hepatocytes to “polyglycolic acid-Collagen carrier" in cell culture and then implanting this polymer cell scaffold into animal's omentum: multiple fibers of polymer were fashioned from absorbable polyglycolic acid suture and then coated with type Ⅰcollagen which was prepared from rat tail tendons.Co-cultured hepatocytes were isolated from SDrats with this polymer scaffold for 96 hours and then implanted into omentum of Wistar rats which undertook partial hepatectomy. Successful engraftment occurred in the omentum were observed 14,28,60 days after transplantation,which showed viability of hepatocytes with mitotic figures.PASstain showed rich glycogen within the cytoplasm of the implanted hepatocytes.This method of hepatocyte transplantation is an alterative to current way.

ighty two cases of carcinoma of colon were reviewed. The reasons for delayed diagnoses in different extent were analyzed in terms of patients'age, characteristics of symptoms and the duration from the time of admission to the time of confirmed diagnosis. All diagnoses of 82 cases were confirmed by pathological examination, in which late cancers were 50%,affirmedover 6 months were 60%,and 6 young cases affirmedaverage 11 months.The results were similar with the reports at home and abroad. The critical question was the low rate of early diagnosis, which was the reason that the 5-year survival rate had not been improved during this decade. The author suggested that in order to attain an early diagnosis for carcinoma of colon, more attention should be paid to census, popularization of knowledge and vigilance this disease.

Azithromycin is an azalide antibiotic, structurally related to the macrolide antibiotics. Protheo is a sustainted release tablet of theophylline. Two groups were investigated: azithromycin with protheo and protheo group, each consisting of ten cases. By moniting the serum concentration of different time after administration.It was concluded that Azithromycin has no effect on the serum concentration of theophylline.

We had used the Nickel Titanium alloy esophageal stent to treat the patients with esophageal stricture in 29 cases from Mar.1992 to Jan.1996,including 19 cases of benign stricture, and 10 cases of malignant stricture. All the stent insertion were successfully completed after the esophagus was dilated through the patients′ mouth under fluoroscopy.The dysphagia was improved. The life quality of the patients have been improved.There was no severe complication and mortality in this series. We suggest that the Nickel-Titanium alloy esophageal stent affords an effective method for the treatment of esophageal stricture.

In order to select donor and recipient,accurate typing HLAespecially typing HLA-DR is one of the most important factor for a longer survival time of the graft.Using polymerase chain reaction with sequence specific primers(PCR-SSP)technique the authors underwent HLA-DR gene typing in 331 cases of donor and recipient. Among them,109 cases were subjected to a comparative study with serological typing. The results showed that the error rate of serological assay was 29.7%, while the HLA-DRgene typing with PCR-SSP method all showed their specificities without any false negative or false positive.Replication experiments in 20 cases of random sampling showed 100% coincidence. The typing results were confirmed by INNO-LIPA PCR-Reverse SSOexperiments,and the coincidence was 100%. Only 4 hours will suffice for this assay. So, it is simple, rapid and reliable as compared with the serological method, and is suitable for HLAtyping in clinical organ transplantation.

125 cases of asphyxia neonatorum encountered within the past 4 years were analyzed.The incidence of the disease was 2.5%.Among them oxytocin had been used in 39 cases for hastening parturition and inducing labour(31.2%).In the group of hastening parturition and inducing labour the incidence of asphyxia neonatorum was 3.42 %.In natural labour the incidence of asphxia neonatorum was 1.63% at the same period(P<0.01).The concentration of oxytocin infusion was 1 U% in 39 cases, and the frequency of uterine contraction was 1～2 min. At the time of labour 20 cases of fetal monitorring patterns were abnormal and the amniotic fluids were stained with meconiumin 21 cases. One case died of embolism due to amniotic fluid. The study shows:improperly used oxytocin can lead to intrauterine anoxia of the fetus, posing untoward effects to both baby and mother.Mastering the conditions and methods of using oxytocin properly is very important.

The effect of laparoscopic operations for the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological diseases were summarized.Laparoscopic operation in 108 cases was performed from Jan.1992 to Sep.1995.Of which 39 cases were for laparoscopic diagnosis and 69 cases for TVlaparoscopic operation.Most of the patients suffered from indefinite lower abdominal pain,pelvic mass and infertility.Satisfactory results had been achieved for adnexectomy and part of operations for endometriosis,ectopic pregnancy and infertility.No significant complications occureed during and after the operation.The success rate was 98.1%.

Gastric emptying of 500 mLwarm water(37 ℃)was studied by real time ultrasonography in 50 healthy volunteers. The emptying rate was found to be decreased with the time after meal. The change of upper gastric body(USB)is more visible than that of gastric antrum(GA). The emptying rate of USBin male was higher than in female during the first 30 minutes after meal. Anegative correlation between the age and the width of USBand GAexisted only female. Two mathematical models were developed to describe respectively the USBdecrease after meal in both sexes.

The cellular heterogeneity of lung carcinoma and ultrastructural diagnosis of neuroendocrine carcinoma of the non-small-cell type were studied. Methods: 46 cases of lung carcinoma were examined comparatively on light and electron microscopy. Results: 1 case(2.2%)of adenosquamous carcinoma was observed on light microscopy and 12(26.1%)cases of adenosquamous carcinoma on electron microscopy. N. S. G(neurosecretory granules)were identified ultrastructurally in 1 cases of adenocarcinoma and 2 cases of large cell carcinoma. Squamous, glandular and endocrine features were found together in one case diagnosed as adenocarcinoma on light microscopy. No case of neuroendocrine carcinoma of non-small-cell type was diagnosed on light microscopy, but 3 cases were diagnosed on electron microscopy. Conclusions:Our results indicated that lung carcinoma cell had high hetergeneity which appeared that some adenocarcinomas had cells with squamous characteristics, some squamous carcinomas had cells with glandular features, and both had cells with endocrine structures. The ultrastructural findings showed that some lung carcinomas were derived from stem cells of bronchial epithelium which possesed the ability of multipotential differentiation. Electron microscpy plays an important role in diagnosis of neuroendocrine carcinoma of non-small-cell type.

39 patients with superficial bladder carcinoma after TURBTwere treated by whole bladder hypo fraction radiotherapy. Results: The 1,2,3 years' recurrence rates were 5.6%, 6.3% and 7.7% respectively. Conclusion: The whole bladder hypo- fraction radiotherapy for superficial bladder carcinoma after TURBTcan prevent postoperative recurrence.

Monitoring of isolation rate and resistance rate of 2880 common bacteria from various clinal samples, displayed that the resistance rate of Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis to penicillin Gwas very high,and the resistance rate of Escherichia coli to norfloxacin rose from 2%to 49%, and that of diplococcus gonorrhoeae was rising up.The resistance rate of acinebacter to the antimicrobials used in this article increased, but that of pseudomonas aeruginosa to carbenicillin decreased to some extent.
