Abstract: From 1965 to 1996,940 patients with esophageal carcinoma were treated in our hospital. 32 cases aged less than 40 years old, accounting for 3.4% of all the patients. We could summarized their six clinical features from the records: a: lower heredity, b:preponderance in male,c:higher misdiagnosis rate ,d:predominant mid esophageal localization, e:higher removal rate,f:less postoperative complication. These tendencies suggested that:for the young patients with esophageal carcinoma, one should diagnose and operate as early as possible. And for those who had been diagnosed late surgical and adjuvant treatment could also be offered.
