A Survey of Gonococcal and Chlamydia Trachomatis Infection among the High Risk Population of Sexually Transmitted Disease

Abstract: In order to survey the state of gonococcal and chlamydia trachomatis infection among the high risk population of sexually transmitted deseases,the urogenital swab specimens from 232 prostitutes were examined by gonococcus culture and polymerase chain reaction for chlamydia trachomatis.The population characteristics of the 232 prostitutes were analyzed.Results were as follows:the infection rate of gonococcus and chlamydia trachomatis were 27.2% and 30.2%,respectively. The combined infection rate among the 63 positive gonococcal infection cases was 20.6% of the 232 prostitutes. Conclusion:There were much higher prevalence of gonococcal and chlamydia trachomatis infection among the high risk population of sexually transmitted diseases. They are likely to cause rapid and massive spcead.Therfore, all the concerned should pay much attention to the prostitutes.
