Abstract: The aim of this study was to examine the association of cholecystectomy, gallstones and colorectal cancer. Participants of 165 had a colorectal cancer diagnosed between 1990~1999. Seven patients underwent cholecystectomy and 37 patients suffered from gallstones. Forty four colorectal cancer patients(26.7%) experienced cholocystectomy or gallstones, which are clearly more than those in the case control group(6.0%). There was significant difference between the two groups(P<0.01). Cholecystectomy and gallstones may indicate patients at high risk of colorectal cancer.
