Abstract: The objective was to study the protect effects and mechanism of water extract of Emery formicusina(WEEF) on adjuvant arthritis. The adjuvant arthritis model of rat,the model of ear edema induced by xylene in mice were used. The results showed that WEEF could significantly 1) inhibit the ear edema induced by xylene in mice; 2)inhibit the primary and secondary inflammation of rats induced by the complete Freund's adjuvant; 3)lower the PGE₂ of local inflammatory position. WEEF has the anti-inflammatory effects on adjuvant arthritis model of rats, the mechanism of anti-inflammation may be considered with the reduction of PGE₂.
