Abstract: To investigate the immunosuppressive mechanism of lipo-PGE1 and to observe the changes in kidney recipient caused by lipo-PGE1. Methods: 1) Lipo-PGE 1 was examined for its in vitro suppressive effects on blastogenesis of mitogen-stimulated PBLobtained from 6 healthy volunteer and 10 chronic renal failure (CRF) candidates for renal transplantation. 2) Fourteen patients receiving renal transplantation in the experimental group were treated with lipo-PGE1, Csa, Aza and prednisone for fourteen days and eleven patients under the same conditions were only treated with Csa, Aza and prednisone. Blood creatine, ureanitrogen, hemorrheology and incidents of acute rejection were examined. Results: Urine volume was significantly higher in group A than that in group B five days after operation. On the contrary, blood creatine and ureanitrogen were significantly lower in group Athan in group Bseven days after operation. Erythrocyte rigid index, rate of platelet aggregation and blood viscosity were much better in group A than in group B. Incidents of acute rejection were higher in group A than in group B. Conclusion: The findings suggest that the addition of lipo-PGE1 to renal recipients significantly improve graft function and reduce the incidents of acute rejection. In vitro lipo-PGE1 can inhibite the proliferation of T-lymphocyte stimulate by PHA.
