Abstract: 51 chinese brains were mearsured to examine the morphological asymmetry of the cortical speech areas with a videoplan computer.1. The temporal planum was significantly larger on the left than on the right side (P<0.01) .The ratio of R/L was 52.3%.2. The shapes of the frontal operculum were divided into 6 types. This area tended to be larger on the left than on the right side though the difference was not statistically significant.3. The area of the inferior parietal lobule tended to be larger on the right than on the left though the difference was not statistically significant.4. The mean weight of the left hemisphere was more heavy than that of the right side. The correlation coefficient was 0.9878.Comparisons were also made between the sexes and among the Chinese, Japanese and Westerner brains.
