Modified Langendodf's method for perfusing the isolated mammalian heart was used to nvestigate the electrocardiogram tracing of the isolated rabbit heart.In order to understand the prac-tical significance of the electrocardiogram of the isolated rabbit heart,we observed the corresponding changes in electrocardiogram of the rabbit under different perfusion conitions and various artificial stimuli.Hence, it is possible to provide a simple and practical experimental means for research of some acute diseases of the myocardium.

A specially designed electrode was implanted on the common peroneal nerve trunk of the rabbit.with the rabbit unanesthetized and unbound,relati-vely free movement being permitted, various elements (A—C) of the evoked compound action potential and the autogenic action potential can be recbrded stably and precisely within a long period of time.In this study we discovered that, it was not the fastest element of compound action potential that appeared first during the course of gradual increment of the stimulus of intensity.

51 chinese brains were mearsured to examine the morphological asymmetry of the cortical speech areas with a videoplan computer.1. The temporal planum was significantly larger on the left than on the right side (P<0.01) .The ratio of R/L was 52.3%.2. The shapes of the frontal operculum were divided into 6 types. This area tended to be larger on the left than on the right side though the difference was not statistically significant.3. The area of the inferior parietal lobule tended to be larger on the right than on the left though the difference was not statistically significant.4. The mean weight of the left hemisphere was more heavy than that of the right side. The correlation coefficient was 0.9878.Comparisons were also made between the sexes and among the Chinese, Japanese and Westerner brains.

Elcctroretinogram (ERG) is valuable in analysis and diagnosis of the rod and cone function in he field of opthalmology. This computer program can collect, accumulate and printout a better graph automatically. According to the doctor's diagnosis thinking this program can find a series of characteristics of ERG and make a correct diagnosis for the patient.This program uses FORTRAN-PLUS language and practises in PDP11/60 computer. This program has been running in National Hospital of Norway in Oslo since March, 1982.

In this paper 80 casea of myocardial infarction receiving non-in -vasive techniques to assess the left ventricular function by Echocardiography (EF, Ejection Fraction) and STI (Systolic Time Interval, PEF/LVET) were reported. The results showed:(1) Both the Echocardiographic and STI findings were all consistant with the clinical features. So it can be used as an useful objective index for the assessment of left ventricular function. (2) It may predict the potential reduction of the left ventricular function. (3) Echocardiography is much more sensitive than other techniques and is also frequently in accordance with the findings of catheterization in the same patient.

In this paper 220 cases of cerebral cysticerosis were reported. The CSF was examined in all patients.90 patients(40.9%)had intracranial hypertension, 123 pa tients (55.9%) had pleocytosis, although these cells were preponderantly mononuclear. 137(62.3%) had elevated protein, reaching as high as 640mg%.37 patients (16. 8%)showed glucose levels of less than 40mg%. 24 patients (10.9%) had reduced chloride content.A positive CSF PHA titer was found in 82.8%. In the majority of patients cAMP,uric acid and LDH were increased.

From 1958 to 1981, 48 cases of chronic myometritis were treated in our hospital. In all patients the diagnosis was confirmed by hysterectomy and pathology. The incidence was 1.8% of thetotal number of hysterectomy performed during the same period. The patients, ages were 32-45, most of them were multiparous. Menorragia, pain and anemia were the main symptoms. The uteri were symmetrically enlarged. The chief microscopic features were symmetrical thicking of myometrium of the uterine corpus, hypertrophy of the smooth muscle and interstitial connective tissue , lymphocytjc infiltration etc.. The difinition,clinical symptoms,pathological features, treatment and pathogenesis were discussed.

Serum and CSF immunoglobulins (IgG,IgA,IgM) were measured by radial immnodiffusion technique in 137 cases of various neurological diseases. It was shown that the Ig content of CSF in sporadic viral encephalitis,viral meningitis,demyelinated myelencephalopathy,Guillain-Barre syndrome and tuberculous meningitis was much higher than that in the control. The difference between them was significant. But there was no significant difference in serum Ig content between patients and normal control.

S-99 soluble hemostatic gauze is a new type of material for stopping bleeding. Upon the basis of animal experimentation clinical application was tried with comparative observations on an experimental group of 534 cases and a co-ntrol group of 186 cases.Result disclosed that by utilizing S-99 soluble hemostatic gauze good result rate of wound healing wa sincreased by 23.5 %,post-operative bleeding rate was decreased by 10.4%, and the "alveolalgia"and infection rate was decreased by 13.1%. It can be used as a subsidiary therapeutic means in patients with larger wounds after tooth extraction, assoccated with other generalized diseases and with bleeding tendency and liability to infection

A Method for the Determination of Serum β-Glucuronidase Activity in Healthy Personnel and Hepatoma Patients

A colorimetric method for determining the serum β-glucuronidase activity was reported. The mixture was incubated at 37℃ for 18 hr, the degree of hydrolysis of the substrate as a function of enzyme activity was determined by a Model 72 spectrophotometer at the wavelength of 560 nM. The mean serum enzyme activity of 91 healthy blood donors and volunteers was 378 + 142 U% (X±S.D.).The upper limitfor normal range was arbitrarily taken as 600U%. Serum β-glucuronidase activity was markedly increased in 29 patients with hepatic cancer, in which the mean serum enzyme activity was 984±592U%(X ± S.D.) and 22(76%)out of them were abnormal (p<0.001).

Two cases of myeloproliferative pancytopenia were reported. The differentiation of this disorder from acute aplastic anemia and from acute erythropoietic arrest was briefly discussed. Treatment was essentially the same as for aplastic anemia. The prognosis seemed to be somewhat better in patients with this disorder than in those with acute aplastic anemia.

In this paper 8 cases of closure of rear nostril were reported. Its cause of formation,symptoms, examination and operative method,the choose of dilators and the dilating time were discussed briefly. 5 ways of covering the wound with the pedicle of mucous membrane and the utitization of 3 different forms of silica gel tube as the dilators were introduced. The effects were stisfactory.
