Abstract:

380 porcelain-fused-to-metal restorations were given to 260 patients since 1980 to 1983 in our hospital. This type of restoration is indicated in both vital and nonvital teeth.Preoperative proper design is required according to the condition of gingiva.Preoperative treatment is necessary if there is inflammation. As in the preparatiol of the abutment tooth, occlusion should be adjusted, ethetic and functional purposes should be satisfied, shoulder bevel of the labial or buccal surface is better than other type of margin designs, causing a good margin fit with the abutment tooth to prevent unhygienic gingivitis or secondary caries To restore the residual root and crown, cast post and cores or composite resin cores with wire pin are used and a porceiain-fused-to-metal restoration follows.
