Abstract:

Models of humerus fracture were porformed in several rabbits, different methods of fixation were tried, and the bone healing on both fracture ends was observed. The result of the experiment disclosed that certain degree of micromotion could promote the bone healing. Absolute immobilizatio, on the contrary might slow down the healing. Discontinuity of fixation in the healing process might lead to the formation of false joint. The author believed that the relative stability and contact of the fractured ends were the elementary criteria for bone healing. The micromtion between the fracture ends favoured the bone healing.
