Abstract:
Effect of soft shelled turtle(Trionyx sinensis)serum on DNA, RNA and protein synthesis in Ehrlich ascites tumor cells, using bone marrow cells of normal mice as control, was studied by isotope incorporation method. The inhibition rate for incorporation of 3H-TdR. 3H-UR and 3H-Leu into DNA, RNA and protein of Ehrlich ascites tumor cells was 98.1%, 94.8% and 91.9%, while for bone marrow cells of normal mice was 39.4% and 37.3% respecticely.Inhibitory activety of soft turtle serum which was subjected to heat treatment at 50℃, was lowered significantly. These results indicated the presence of a labile substance in the turtle serum which could inhibit the incorporation of 3H-TdR and 3H-UR into DNA and RNA of cells. This inhibitory effect was much pronounced than that in bone marrow cells of normal mice.
