Abstract:

The present study was designed to investigate the histological andimmunohistochemical changes of the thyroid follicular epithelial cells, during 1,2,3,7 and 14 days following partial hepatectomy. After thesham operation, the secretion activity of follicular epithelial cellsdeclined and were probably related to stress reaction. After largeportion hepatectomy, the follicular epithelial cells bccame heightenedapparently. Both the amount of colloid droplets and the immunoreactionsubstance of T3,T4,increased.2-3 days after operation, these changeswere most prominant;14 days later, such changes recovered graduallyto normal level. The above mentioned changes suggested that thesecretory activity of follicular epithelial cells increascd. After smallprotion hepatectomy, the changes of the follicular epithelial cells wereless marked.By analogy with the liver regenerative process, all thefindings suggested that the morphological and secretory activity changesof the follicular epithelia cells were closely related with liverregeneration.
