Abstract:

This paper reports a scanning electron microscopic observation on theGuangxi strain of plasmodium in late sporogonic stage in Anophelesdirus. The sporoblasts seemed to be irregular in shape or form branches, from which were budding the sporozoites. The early sporozoite buds werefinger-like and sometimes enlarged at the tip as a bulb. The nearlymature sporezoites were slender. In a few mature sporozoites a microporecould occasionally be found, which was located two-fifth of the lengh ofthe body from anterior end.As to the residual body of the sporoblast, some were spherical, but most were irregular in appearance, the surfacebeing a little coarse.
