Abstract: In order to compare the curative effects of Chinese pirenzepine (PRZ) and cimetidine in the treatment of peptic ulcer,71 out-patients with endoscopically documented gastric and duodenal ulcer were treated with either PRZ 50mg three times a day,or cimetidine,200mg four times a day,for six weeks. Endoscopically cured rates were 69.5% and 50% respectively. The statistical significance was P<0.01.Adverse reactions to PRZ were high and reversible.
