Abstract: The method of high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) for determining the content of bluish dogbane extract in Bluish dogbane cigarette was reported in this paper.The quercetin in Bluish dogbane cigarette might be separated well from other contents with a solvent mixing toluene, formic acid, ethyl acetate, and hexane (2:0.2:1.5:0.2).Then a pure quercetin was used as a standard.The quantitative detection was performed at 410 nm (reference wavelength 750 nm) in a thin layer scanner.This method has the advantage of small sample, simplicity and sensibility.It seems to be applicable to the use of detection and measurement in factory laboratories.
