Infinite dilution activity coefficients of nitrotoluene isomers in the liquid crystal solvents MPBOB and MPBH_xB were determined with gas-liquid chromatography method.From these coofficients, enthalpy of solution and entropy of solution, excess enthalpy and excess entropy were calculated, Finaly, the selectivity of the liquid crystal solvents were interpreted in terms of the thermodynamic resules.

A rabbit antiserum directed against desmin purified from chicken gizzard, was used to immun-ohistochemical by stain tumor tissues of 26 RMS, 7 LMS, 11 other tumors and vari-ety of normal tissues.Twenty five cases of RMS and 5 cases of LMS were shown to be posi-tive.Only myocyte originated tissues were positive to anti-desmin serum, while all other nor-mal tissues were negitive.Thus the desmin can be regarded as a specific marker of myocytes and is useful in the diagnosis of myosarcomas.

We have studied the acute toxicity and mutagenicity of mycobacterial polysaccharide (MPS) injection.The LD₅₀ was higher than 46.4 ml/kg when intraperitoneal injection to both sexes of mice was made.No mutagenie effects were found in Ames' test and in analysis of sperm abervation of mice.While in micronucleus test of mice bone marrow, the proportion of micronucleus cell in group of high dose was singnificantly higher than that in group of negative control(P<0.01 ), but it was only 4.3‰ and still within the upper limit of normal-ity.Meanwhile, no increase of the proportion of micronucleus cell was found in group of middle dose (11.6 ml/kg), which was 1150 times more than that used in clinic.Thus, we think that MPS may have no risk leading to injury of chromosome in actual use.

The method of high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) for determining the content of bluish dogbane extract in Bluish dogbane cigarette was reported in this paper.The quercetin in Bluish dogbane cigarette might be separated well from other contents with a solvent mixing toluene, formic acid, ethyl acetate, and hexane (2:0.2:1.5:0.2).Then a pure quercetin was used as a standard.The quantitative detection was performed at 410 nm (reference wavelength 750 nm) in a thin layer scanner.This method has the advantage of small sample, simplicity and sensibility.It seems to be applicable to the use of detection and measurement in factory laboratories.

The muscles of contralateral limbs and face were parlysed and rigid after unilateral mo-tor cortex lesioned, the paralytic degree of foreleg is more severe than that of hindleg, be-cause the damaged area was limited to the dorsal-lateral part of precentral gyrus and the lop of this area and paracentral lobe were not lesioned completely.The animal ware able to stand by two hindlegs and take food by contralateral hand, there fore, no trouble in their living was seen.The animals symptome were similar to those of human hemiplegia, stable and lasting.The model may be useful in studying functional recovery promoted by neuron transplanta-tion.

The present study firstly adopted the technique of HRP intracellar injection to the spinal dorsal horn of rats and thereby provided information regarding the microarchitecture of the SST-DCPS neurons.Three SST-DCPS neurons with intact structure were intracellu-larly stained in deeper laminae of the dorsal horn following intracellular recording.Two of them were respectively spindle and triangle shaped locating in the laminae Ⅵ.Their dendri-tic trees were classified as type D according to Bennet et al.The other was found in the lam-inae V.Its somata was ellipse in form and its dendrites distributed like type B.

Thirty patients with their serum total cholesterol level (TC)>250 mg/dl were pre-scribed lovastatin for 12 weeks and observed.The results showed that lovastatin was signifi-cantly efficacious in decraesing TC,apoprotein B and TC/HDL-C concentration as well as in raising the concentration of high density lipidprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in serum.Lovas-tatin was efficacious to some exteut in affecting triglyceride (TG) and not effecacious in af-fecting apoprotein A₁.

The aim of this study was to investigate the gastric emptying (GE)of solids in patients with complete spinal cord injury(SCI) and to observe the therapeutic efficacy of DOMPERI-DONE (DOM) on delayed GE.Sixteen patients (6 high-cord, 10 low-cord) and 10 heslthy controls were studied.Radiopaque markers for studying GE were used, the markers retained in the stomach were counted and antral contractions were observed as well.Five patients with delayed GE took DOM 20 mg T.I.D.for 1 week, then the GE repeated.The GE was markedly delayed at 3.5 and 5 h postprandially in high-cord group compared with controls (P<0.001) but no significant difference was seen in low-cord group at 5 h postprandially (P=0.053).All the patients with delayde GE had decreased antral motility.After the oral administration of DOM the GE was greatly improved (P<0.05).We conclude that high-cord patients(above T₅) have delayed GE of solids, partial low-cord (below T₁₀)delay also, and DOM accelerates the GE.

Fetal umbilical artery flow velocity systolic/diastolic amplitude ratio(S/D) and resistant index (RI) were measured by pulse Doppler technique in normal pregnancies (n=40) and (PIH) women (n=40).The results showed that 6/40 PIH cases had S/D ratio≥3 (ince-dence 15%); 7/4.(17.5%) with neonatal complications and 3/40(7.5%) with IUGR neonates.This method seems to be useful for fetal outcome predicting in high-risk pregnan-cy.

Non-ulcer dyspepsia(NUD) is a common complaint.Little is known about the patho-genesis of the syndrome.It is intriguing to note the high incidene of helicobacter pylori(HP) infection in NUD.which is associated with a local antibody response directed against the or-ganism.An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection of Ig G antibodies a-gainst HP was used to examine sera from 335 patients with NUD.208 patients had HP-asso-ciated gastritis according to culture or histology.164 patients with NUD were studied in a prospective randomized placebocontrolled study to assess the effieacy of colloidol bismuth subcitrate (CBS, 0.11 qid, for 1 month) plus norfloxacin (0.2 tid, for 1 month).HP was cleared in 85% of CBS-Norfloxacin-treated patients compared with only 6% placebo(P< 0.01).Both acute and chronic inflammation improved in patients cleared of bacteria.Clear-ance of HP and histological improvement was associated with a significant decrease in symp-toms and antibody titres to HP after treatment.

The diagnosis of syringomyelia was confirmed by clinical inference before magnetic res-onance image(MRI).The use of MRI made it possible to show the shape, size, position and number of cavities within spinal cord directly on three-dimensional images, So the doctors could recognize this disease further.The authors reported 102 cases with syringomyelia demonstrated by MRI.Their clinical manifestations were complicated and diversified.The pathogenies were varied including infection, tumour, trauma, osteoarthropathy and congenital malformation.The authors think that syringomyelia is a syndrome of cavities within spinal cord due to different causes, and MRI is the most powerful instrument for diagnosing this disease.

We measured the plasma and urine concentration of the ANF-like material in 159 nor-mal subjects with a highly sensitive and specific radioimmunoassay.The results showed that there was a positive correlation between FE_ANF and age (P<0.01 ), and the endogenous cre-atinine clearance rate in 24 hours decreasesed with aging, The urine ANF-like material level increased while the endogenous creatinine clearance rate decreased.In addition, there was a significant difference between elderly group and young group.

Dynamic changes of free amino acids in lens and serum during the formation of selenite induced cataract were investigated.At 3,7 and 14 days post administration of selenite, the contents of most amino acids in cataractous lens were higher slightly, higher dramatically and lower significantly than that in control respectively, but the changes of taurine, aspartic acid and hydroxyproline were in the adverse way.These results indicate that changes of mem-brane permeability, proteolysis and disturbance of amino acid metabolism take place during the process of cataract formation induced by selenite.The results also demostrate that the damage of membrane perhaps is the trigger of other changes during cataract formation.
