The distribution of AChE activity in the cerebellum of the rabbit was studied in 11 ani-mals. A modified classical histochemical technique was used for showing the activity of AChE in frontal, sagittal and horizontal sections of the cerebellum. In the cerebellar cortex, the granular layer was generally shown to have rather strong activity of AChE while the Purkinje cell’s layer and the superficial part of the molecular layer were negative for AChE reaction. Like those in the white matter, the activity of AChE in the deep part of the mole-cular layer was rather weak. In addition, there were many AChE-positive neurons in the molecular layer of the posterior lobe, most of them were concentrated in the lobule X. In the white matter of the cerebellum, there were 5 longitudinal zones showning relatively strong activity of AChE paralleled to the midplane. Among them, the intermedian zone on the mid-plane of the vermis could be seen in all lobules except lobules Ⅵ and Ⅶ. The medial zones were symmetrically located in the lobules Ⅱ~Ⅴof anterior lobe and lobules Ⅷ, and the lateral zones only in the sublobules IXc and IXd of the posterior lobe, Also, a strong AChE activity was found in the cerebellar nuclei. The activity of BuChE was demonstrated in the glial cells of the granular layer and the white matter in which a little stronger reaction of BuChE were seen near the granular layer.

This paper reported the effect of ilexonine A (IA) administration in vitro on rabbit platelet aggregation induced by arachidonic acid (AA) in vitro, and the change of malon-dialdehyde (MDA)level in aggregated platelet suspension. The results showed that IA could inhibit platelet aggregation and MDA formation induced by AA. A certain correlation was shown, Between inhibiting rate of aggregation and decrease of MDA level, suggesting the antiplatelet effect of IA might be related to its inhibiton of the formation of MDA. According to MDA is the parameter of thromboxane A

The hydrolysis of Iron (Ⅲ)-tremella fuciformis polysaccharide complex (ITC) was stu-died at pH values ranging from 4 to 12 and no precipitates were observed so that it may have better bioavailability. Intravenously injecting to the rats, its elimination kinetic was found to be the first order and one compartment model. ITC exhibtied higher absorption, smaller elimination and longer duration of high serum iron concentration than that of FeSO

when rats were fed with ITC and FeSO

In this paper, a procedure was proposed, based on the linear cable equation and experi-mental observations, for analyzing electric signal transmission due to electrotonic propagation along a central neuron. The procedure was used to predict the characters of the membrane and the synaptic density along the ventral dendrite of the teleost Mauthner cell. For a typical group of experimental data, it was given that the membrane space constant is about 412μm, the time constant about 1.8 ms, and the synaptic density at 300 and 100μm. was 44% and 11% of that at 600 μm, respectively.

The left circumflex coronary artery is predisposed to injury during mitral valve opera-tion. We studied 36 hearts of Chinese adults using CASPER 386 PIP-I024B medical image processing system. The average
x
of vertical distance between the circumflex coronary artery and the mitral anulus at zero point are summarized as follows: In the hearts of the right dominance,
x
=8.01mm; in the left dominance,
x
=3.89 mm;and in the codomi-nance,
x
=6.21 mm. The distance between the mitral anulus and the circumflex coronary artery was the largest in hearts with right dominance, and the circumflex coronary artery was most proximal to the mitral anulus in hearts with left dominance(
P
<0.01). The left circumflex coronary artery during mitral operation is more predisposed to injury in the pa-tients with left dominance. The cardiovascular surgeons must pay atention to it.

After systemic and topical hypithermia and extracorpureal circultion cold potassium car-dioplegic solution and the same solution containing puerarin were used for canine myocardial protection, respectively. The electron microscopic observations of both global ischemic myocardium were evaluated and compared. The results indicate that after 140 min aortic oc-clusion and 45 minreperfusion the cold potassium cardioplegic solution containing puerarin has a better protective effect on myocardium ultrastructure.

Soluble larve antigen of Trichinella spiralis was analysed by SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Preliminary examinations with pooled human sera taken from 39 cases of trichinosis rewealed 18 protein bands, and their molecular weights rangen from 80 to 30 kD. The molec-ular weight of the most prominent protein bands was 80,74,66,63,55,42 and 40 kD. A-mong them, only those with molecular weight of 66,63 and 55 kD were likely to be specific to Trictinella spiralis and of diagnostic value. The reactions of this soluble antigen with pooled sera of 35 cases of Schistosomiasis japonica showed 11 protein bands and their molecu-lar weights ranged from 42 to 25 kD. Sixty sera of normal individuals and 75 sera of patients with parasitic diseases other than Trichinosis all gave negative reactions. Thus Trichinellosis may be differentiated from Schistosomiasis by their diffences in protein bands.

Experiments were performed to compare the effects of exogenous adenosine (1 μmol/ kg ,i v), vagal stimulation (30 Hz, 4 V, 10 ms) and hypoxia (20%O
2
, 10 min) on guinea pig hearts (n=52). It was observed that all of these intervents caused prolongation of sinus cycle length, A-V conduction time and even high degree of A-V block. The site of block was all localized in the proximal portion of the AVN region. Aminophylline (5 mg/kg,iv) antago-nised the effects of adenosine. Vagal stimulation did not result in the increases in contents of myocardial adenosine occurred during hypoxia. Neither arrhythmias nor myocardial adeon-sine increases caused by hypoxia were blocked by atropinization(0. 2 mg/kg, iv). We con-clude that both high myocardial adenosine level and high vagal tone may result in sinus bradycardia and A-V block.

Twenty seven cases of small cell lung cancer (SCLC)were studied microscopically and immunohistochemically for their histological typing and expression of 11 antigens in 3 groups. We found that the expression percentage of NSE, Chromogranin, Synaptophysin, S-100, Cytokeratin, Vimentin and NF were 81.48%, 11. 11%, 44.44%, 18. 52%, 92. 5%, 14. 81% and 22.22% respectively. No SCLC was found to express Desmin and GFAP. All these foundings indicate that SCLC has the feature of neuronepithelial eifferentiation. The expression ratio of serotonin and somatostatin were 14.8% and 44.44%, respectively sho-wing that SCLC has the function of hormone secretion. Combining application of above anti-bodies, an accurate diagnosis of about 96% SCLC cases could be reached.

64 cases of primary malignant tumor of the small bowel are reported in this paper. Thirty-three men and thirty-one women ranged from 20 to 82, with an average of 53. 6 years old. The chief symptom was abdominal pain (68. 8%)and mass(62.5%). Some pa-tients presented with complications of intestinal obstruction, bleeding, perforation, peritonitis and obstructive jaundice. Preoperative diagnosis was suspected in 42 cases (65. 6%). In this series, 34 cases were cancer and 30 cases were sarcoma. Adenocarcinoma was the most com-mon tumor (50%), followed by malignant lymphoma (28.1%), leiomyosarcoma (15.6%), neurofibrosarcoma (3. 1%), carcinoid tumor (1. 6%) and duodenal ulcer with malignant change (1.6%). The duodenum(29/64) was the most common site of malignancy, fol-lowed by jejunum (20/64) and ileum (15/64). Metastasis are frequent in most cases (65.6%). The 5 year postoperated survival rate in 50 cases was 16%.
