Abstract: The left circumflex coronary artery is predisposed to injury during mitral valve opera-tion. We studied 36 hearts of Chinese adults using CASPER 386 PIP-I024B medical image processing system. The average x of vertical distance between the circumflex coronary artery and the mitral anulus at zero point are summarized as follows: In the hearts of the right dominance, x=8.01mm; in the left dominance, x=3.89 mm;and in the codomi-nance,x=6.21 mm. The distance between the mitral anulus and the circumflex coronary artery was the largest in hearts with right dominance, and the circumflex coronary artery was most proximal to the mitral anulus in hearts with left dominance(P<0.01). The left circumflex coronary artery during mitral operation is more predisposed to injury in the pa-tients with left dominance. The cardiovascular surgeons must pay atention to it.
