Abstract: Twenty seven cases of small cell lung cancer (SCLC)were studied microscopically and immunohistochemically for their histological typing and expression of 11 antigens in 3 groups. We found that the expression percentage of NSE, Chromogranin, Synaptophysin, S-100, Cytokeratin, Vimentin and NF were 81.48%, 11. 11%, 44.44%, 18. 52%, 92. 5%, 14. 81% and 22.22% respectively. No SCLC was found to express Desmin and GFAP. All these foundings indicate that SCLC has the feature of neuronepithelial eifferentiation. The expression ratio of serotonin and somatostatin were 14.8% and 44.44%, respectively sho-wing that SCLC has the function of hormone secretion. Combining application of above anti-bodies, an accurate diagnosis of about 96% SCLC cases could be reached.
