Experimental Study on the Antiaging Effect of Abstracted Juice of Lycium Chinense

The antiaging effect of abstracted juice of lycium chinense in vitro and in vivo were studied. The result showed that the LPO product in homogeneous liver of mouse was inhi-bited by the juice in vitro with dose-response effect; The LPO product in liver of mouse de-creased significantly and the activity of SOD and GSH-Px in plasma of mouse increased sig-nificantly; The LPO product in plasma of old people decreased obviously and the activity of GSH-Px in plasma increased, but the activity of SOD decreased in old people. These results implied that the abstracted juice of lycium chinense has the obvious antiaging effect.

40 adult male rats were used and divied into 4 groups,i, e. normal control group; experi-mental spleen deficiency group induced by rhubarb; spontaneous recovery group and thera-peutic group treated with Chinese herbs （Si Jun Zi decoction）. The animals of the four groups were sacrificed simultaneously and their small intestines were removed and prepared for the histochemical demonstration of SDH, LDH, Mg²⁺-activited ATPase, ALP and G-6-Pase. These enzymes’ activity in absorptive cells of intestinal villi was observed and semi-quantitative estimation was performed under LM. In addition, the SDH and LDH reactivity was measured by microspectrophoter（MPV2, Leitz）. All the data were processed statistical-ly. The reactivities of SDH, G-6-Pase and Mg²⁺-ATP ase in exprimental spleen deficiency group were weaker than those of normal control group while the reactivities of LDH and ALP were stronger than those of the normal control. The reactivities of above stated 5 en-zymes in the therapeutic group were stronger in comparison, with the spontaneous recovery group. These results suggest that the enzyme changes in absorptive cells of small intestine are closely related to digestive disorders occured in spleen dificiency syndrome and may take an important part in the pathogenesis of spleen dificiency syndrome, and that the Chinese herbs （Si Jun Zi decoction）currently employed possess significant therapeutic effect on the syn-drome.

The method of coupled peroxidatic oxidation was proved to be prior to the tetazolium salts one is showing the clarity of the somata, process and fibre courses of monoamine oxi-dase(MAO)-contining positive neruons in the cental nerous system. The clistibution of two different types of MAO A and MAO B in the central nervous system could be selectively demonsated when the MAO A and MAO B were supressed by deprenyl and clorgyline, re-spectively. The relationship between concentation of tyranine or HRP in the medium and chomatic reaction was also discussed in the present study.

Southern blot analysis of human papillomavirus DNA was carried out on 10 cases of chronic vulvar dystrophy(CVD). 30% (3/10)of them were proved to be positive for human papillomavirus DNA.

The present paper discusses the role of tremella fucitormis Polysaccharide(TFS) in pro-tection of erythrocyte membranes from damage by superoxide anion O₂^·- generated from auto-oxidation of pyrogallie acid(pA) at pH 8.4. The addition of TFS to pyrogallic acid and ery-thocyte membranes system caussed a decrease in high molecular weight protein polymers (HMP), an increase in fluidity and a depression in hemolysis rate of the red cells, Showing TFS has antiperoxidation effect on erythrocyte membranes. However no inhibition of TFS on auto-oxidative reaction of PA was shown when the auto-oxidation experiment was under taken under basic condition.

Direct stimulation of the olfactory nerves evoked a graded, complex excitory postsynap-tic potential (EPSP)on the Mauthner cell. The evoked EPSP was composed of two compo-nents with different characterastics. The latency of the first component was shorter with a average of 0. 62 ms and not sensitive to higher frequency stimulations. The second compo-nent closely followed the first one. It lasted more than 4 ms and presented a typical complex waveform. It was very sensitive to higher frequency stimulation; its amplitude declined by 40% while the stimulation interval shortened from 27 s to 100 ms.

The effects were observed that MPS might enhance the cytotoxic activity of NK cells in the healthy volunteers. It indicated that MPS might enhance the non-specific immunity of the healthy individuals. And no effects on Tcell.

The changes of phagocytic function in phagocytes were estimated by chemiluminescence (CL). in renal transplanted patients prior and after their surgery. Forty-seven patients re-ceived renal transplantation for 1 to 8 years, (thirty-seven with normal renal function and 10 with abnormal renal function), were randomly chosen to be the subjects for estimating the peak CL/10³ leucocytes, the state of pre-activated phagocytes in vivo(basal) and the opsonic activity of plasma, comparing with 15 hemodialysis patients who had not received transplan-tation, 13 renal transplanted patients whose transplanted kidney had been removed due to se-vere rejection, and 38 normal controls. The peak CL/10³ leucocytes of receptors with good renal function had no apparent difference compared with that of normal control, while The peak CL/10³ leucocytes of the receptors with abnormal renal function significantby differed from the value of control, dialysis patients without transplantation and patients whose trans-planted kidney removed (P<0. 05). In comparing with the controls, the backgrand level in patients obviously increased while no difference was shown in the peak time. These results show that after renal transplantation the increasments of phagocytic function and the pre-ac-tivated state in vivo predict the occurence of renal function failure and rejrction. This study suggest that is useful in diagnosing the rejection of transplant in clincal examination.

HLA typing in 29 cases of diabetes patients were perfomed, and then those were com-pared with the HLA typing results in 59 cases of health individuals. The antigen friquencies were distinctly rose in DRw12, Cw9, DRw17, Bw75, A3, DR9, A2, DQw2, B35, DQw9, DRw53, Cw6 and DR7 etc, compared with normal individuals as control group. The antigen friquencies of Cw7, Cw1, B39, DR4, DRw16, A26, DR1, DQw5, DQw8 and DQw6 etc, dis-tinctly reduced. The haplotype A2-B13, DRw12-DQw7 and B35-Cw9 had significant linkage disequilibrium. The linkage disequilibrium parameters were of positive numbers, they showed orthodromic links; but the linkage disequilibrium parameters of Cw10-DQw6, Cw6-DRw12, Cw10-DRw15, B35-Cw10, A2-B35, Cw4-DQw9, Cw4-DR9, B60-Cw9, DRw12-DQw2, A24-Cw6 and A3-B13, were negative, they showed minus links, those prompt to what they could be specific haplotypes with protective sense.

25 anemia patients caused by chronic renal insufficiency, 15 patients kept haemodialy-sis, the other received nondialysis treatment, were given recombinant human erythropoietin (r-HuEPO) thrice a week intravenously. Haemoglobin(Hb) rose to 106±8 g/L in 23 cases after 6～8 weeks accompanying increased life quality. 1 of 5 eases with low platelets counts and 1 of 3 cases with low leukocytes returned to normal 12 weeks after r-HuEPO adminis-tration. Mean WBC and platelets counts increased 12 weeks after r-HuEPO therapy. Mean blood pressure increased while haemoglobin rose. No significant changes were found in serum creatinine, uria, calcium, phosphorus, uric acid, cretinine clearance and 24h proteinurea amount.

Among 19 cases of emergency cesarean hysterectomy the indications of 18 cases was uterine hemorrhage, 15 cases were cesarean section (CS) and 3 eases were vaginal delivery (VD). It has been shown that CS is the high risk factor of emergency obstetrical hysterecto-my. Blood loss of VD was more than CS and leaded easier to maternal death. The first rea-son of uterine bleeding was some kind of abnormal placenta related to frequent abortion. The indication of one case was amnion fluid embolism who died because operation was per-formed too late. It was pointed that if bleeding still couldn’ t be coltrolled through counti-nous, fast and systematical treatment including primary, formal and special therapies in the compensatory period hysterectomy should be done immediately and decisively.

26 cases of cholecystic polypoid lesions had been admithed and operated on from Jan-uary, 1987 to October, 1990. Serial pathological section had been performod. Twenty two cases (84.6%) were benign; Heir average age was 40. 2 years old. Four cases (15.4% ) were malignant, their average age was 65.5 years old. The clinical symptoms of cholecystic poly-poid lesion was similar to those of cholelithiasis. The diagnosis was chiefly dependent upon Betasound and the diagnoltic accuracy was 92.0%, The diagnosis might be wrong when the lesion was associated with gallstone. Both the lesions nature (benign or malignant)and size were closely related to the age of patients. All the benign lesions in this gloup were less than 1.5cm in diameter and more than 1.5 cm in malignant ones. The age of 4 malignant cases were all alove 60 and lelow 60 in kenign group. The depth of cancer invasion and the range of tumor extension were all closely reluted to the paognosis. Three patients in malignant troup whose invasion was not leyond muscular layer and without lymphotic metaslasis, who had leen followed for 6 months to more than one year, were ale alioe, One case with sur-rounding tissul infitrated was died of returrence 10 months ofter operation. The best choice of treatment for benign is simple choleeysteclomy and cholecystectomy with excision of sur-rouding liver tissul and eradication of local lymph glands for mustular infiltrated cases.
