The Preparation of Anti-desmin Serum and Its Use in the Diagnosis of Myosarcomas

Abstract

Abstract: A rabbit antiserum directed against desmin purified from chicken gizzard, was used to immun-ohistochemical by stain tumor tissues of 26 RMS, 7 LMS, 11 other tumors and vari-ety of normal tissues.Twenty five cases of RMS and 5 cases of LMS were shown to be posi-tive.Only myocyte originated tissues were positive to anti-desmin serum, while all other nor-mal tissues were negitive.Thus the desmin can be regarded as a specific marker of myocytes and is useful in the diagnosis of myosarcomas.
