Abstract: We carried out the teratogeuic test with mycobacterial polysaccharides (MPS).The in-crease of body weight of pregnant mice and the number of living, absorbed and died embryos in all the three groups administered with different doses(345.0 μg/kg,172.5 μg/kg and 87.0 μg/kg) showed no obvious difference from those of negative control group(P>0.05). The body length, body weight and tail length in the three dose groups are relatively similar as those of negative control group. No deformity of external appeacance, internal organs and bones was found. The results show that in the doses used is our experiment MPS has no ter-atogenie effect. Thus,we think that it is safe to use MPS during gestation.
Key words: mycobacterial polysaccharide, immunomodulator, teratogenicity
