Abstract: The binding of Be(Ⅱ) to human serum proteins and the competition of 20 ligands with proteins for Be(Ⅱ) were studied by gel chromatography and atomic absorption spec-trophotometry.The results showed that ①Be(Ⅱ) was bound by serum protein strongly un-der physiological pH condition and the binding rate was about 95% at equilibuium condition. ②Among these ligand studed, several ligands could compete effectively with serum protein for Be(Ⅱ) and about 78%~18% of Be(Ⅱ) may thus be removed from proteins and form complex of small molecular ligand of Be(Ⅱ).The structural regularity for the carboxylic acid ligands was found through changing substitution groups and compairing their competi-tive capacity.

Key words: toxic metal beryllium Be(Ⅱ), gel chromatography, complexing agents for removing metals human serum proteins
