Degeneration was made in 12 adult rats to study the course and projections of the ros-tral spinocerebellar tract (RSCT),after unilateral lesions in the C
5~8
spinal segments. The re-sults show that degeneration fibers of the RSCT originated from the cervical enlargement as-cend ipsilaterally in the lateral funiculus of the ccervical cord, enter the cerebellum via the in-ferior and superior cerebellar peduncles, project bilaterally to the anterior lobe and the Ⅳ~ Ⅸ lobules of the posterior lobe of the cerebellum, with concentration in the ⅪⅠ Ⅲ~Ⅴ and Ⅷ lobules. The degeneration fibers appear in the granualar layer of the cerebellar cortex. In ad-dition,the degeneration fibers can also be seen in bilateral fastigial and interposed nuclei.

The extract of rhodiola appear to be effective to help the body to resist and tolerate low temperature, fatigue and oxygen hungry. We propose that it might be possible to be used as a new food resourses and supplement. In our study the extract of rhodiola was given to groups of pregnant rats by stomach-tubing in doses of 0.8g,1.6g and 3.2g/kg of body weight re-spectively.The results showed that there were no teratogenic effects for the experimental groups and the negative control group. However, teratogenic effects for the positive control group was obvious. This results provide the scientific evidence for the evaluation of toxicolo-gy and safety of rhodiola containing beverage.

Experiments were performed on rabbits anaesthetized with urethane. The animals were immobilized with gallamine triethiodide and maintained by artificial ventilation.Ventricular extrasystoles (HVE) were produced by electrical stimulation of mamillary nucleus of the hy-pothalamus and its surrounding regions. The number of hypothalamic stimulation-induced ventricular extrasystoles (NHVE) was decreased by stimulation of the vagus nerve with a current of high intensity (90~200μA),but it was not decreased by low intensity (3~10 μA).NHVE was decreased by stimulation of the solitary tracr nucleus at the level of the obex, but it was not decreased by the stimulation of postrena area, the reticular formation and spinal trigeminal nucleus. These observations suggest that NHVE could be inhibited by the afferent impulses of vagus nerve. The solitary tract nucleus at the level of the obex may have important effect in the afferent path.

Three preparations, alkaloid, ethanol extract and flavonoid, prepared from the Sophora feavecens Ait (Sophora angustifolia)were evaluated in vitro for antigiardia effect. The lethal concentrations of the 3 agents were 2.5mg/ml,0.5mg/ml and 5mg/ml respectively on the 72nd hour after cultivated with
G.lamblia
trophozoites. When their concentrations were 0.5 mg/ml,0.25mg/ml and 2.5mg/ml respectively, the growth of the trophozoites was inhi-bited.No antigiardia effect could be found as their concentrations were 0.05 mg/ml,0.05 mg/ml and 0.5mg/ml respectively. In comparison of the effects of the agents with that of mitronidazole,a similar antigiardia effect was observed. The present results support the clini-cal therapy for giardiasis by using the herb Sophora feavecens Ait.

This paper reports the studies on isoenzyms of lactic dehydrogenase (LDH),esterase (FAST) and acid phosphatsse(AP) in cyst fluid, hydatid cysts, protoscoleces and cyst walls of alveolar hydatid (metacestoda of
Echnococcus multilocularis
)by PAGE analyses. In LDH isoenzyme analysis only 4 enzymatic bands revealed in each specimen of cyst fluid and hy-datid cyst.In EST isoenzyme analysis 14,17,3 and 13 enzymaic bands were found in speci-mens of hydatid cysts, cyst fluid, protoscoleces and cyst walls respectively;while enzymatic bands of AP were 4,2,1 and 1 correspondingly in four specimens. The result of tests showed that in specimens of cyst fluid the number of enzymatic bands in three isoenzymes were more than that in other specimens and they were stained more strongly,so cyst fluid might play an improtsnt role in the metablism of alveolar hydatid.

The binding of Be(Ⅱ) to human serum proteins and the competition of 20 ligands with proteins for Be(Ⅱ) were studied by gel chromatography and atomic absorption spec-trophotometry.The results showed that ①Be(Ⅱ) was bound by serum protein strongly un-der physiological pH condition and the binding rate was about 95% at equilibuium condition. ②Among these ligand studed, several ligands could compete effectively with serum protein for Be(Ⅱ) and about 78%~18% of Be(Ⅱ) may thus be removed from proteins and form complex of small molecular ligand of Be(Ⅱ).The structural regularity for the carboxylic acid ligands was found through changing substitution groups and compairing their competi-tive capacity.

The compound action potential produced by stimulation of the superficial peroneal nerve were extracellulary recorded from the scintic nerve of rats and their parameters were mea- sured and analysed in the present study.Waves Aα,Aβ,Aγ,Aδ and C were shown in succes- sion upon electrical stimulation.Wave A appeared most distinctly and wave C was smallest in size, showing diphasic in shape. The threshold, optimal strength, amplitude and conduction velocity of wave A were significantly different than the corresponding parameters in wave C.Utmost difference was also shown between subcomponents of wave A.The amplitude of action potential was found to be proportional to the potential's conduction velocity and the threshold and optimal strength of stimuli.Negatively going exponantial correlation was seen between the threshold as well as optimal intensity and the conduction velocity or amplitude. These results indicate that the conduction velocity of various components of compound action potentials is the fundamental basis in describing and identifying different kinds of nerve fibers and that parameters of amplitude, threshold and optimal strength also play their role in explanation and practical application of fiber classification.

A quantitative method for the measurement of the hemolytic complement activity in serum was established by using agarose gel.The gels contains sensitized sheep erythrocytes and nonsensitized rabbit erythrocytes respectively for the classical and the alternative path-way teats. The method is excellent in linearity, presision, sensitivity, specificity and accuracy. It is simplified and could be mastered easily. This paper also expreses the screening expe-riment for peadiatric and epidemiological investigation in which the complement activity is tested by using micro-amount of cappillary blood.

The multiple approaches to determine HP infection were studied before and after the treatment of duodenal ulcer(DU).The approaches included the culture of HP in antral biop-sies;the Giemsa staining of histological sections;urease test and serum anti-HP IgG antibo-dies measurement with and ELISA technique;the serium gastrin(RIA) was simultaneously controled. The results show that there was significnat rise in anti-HP IgG titre and level of serum gastrin, and after the clearance of HP,the level of serum gastrin and anti-HP antibody titres significantly decreased. The results supported the hypothesis that HP infection causes DU as well as the increase of serum gastrin release. Both serology and the gastrin measure-ment may be helpful in assessmont of the effect of clinical treatment and epidenilogical stud-ies.

(1)Various kinds of arrhythimias could be elicited by stimulation of the hypothalamic mamillary nucleus and its surrounding region with monophasic square pluses train (lasted for 5~10 sec, frequency 50 Hz,duration 0.5 ms,intensity 10~100μA) in rabbits bilaterally cervically vagotomized, anaesthelized with sodium amobarbital(33 mg/kg,i.v) and immobi-lized with faxedil.(2)The arrhythimia could be partially or completely arrested by stimula-tion of the central end of cervical vagus. The same inhibitory effect could be elicited by forced inflation of the lungs.(3)Forced distension of the stomach, stimulation of the subdiaphrag-matic portion of the vagi,of the superior laryngeal nerves,of sciatic nerve or.unilateral deep peroneal nerve could not arrested the arrhythimias.(4)A discussion on the central mecha-nism of inhibitory effect of stimulation of the vagus on the arrhythimias was given.
