Abstract: A quantitative method for the measurement of the hemolytic complement activity in serum was established by using agarose gel.The gels contains sensitized sheep erythrocytes and nonsensitized rabbit erythrocytes respectively for the classical and the alternative path-way teats. The method is excellent in linearity, presision, sensitivity, specificity and accuracy. It is simplified and could be mastered easily. This paper also expreses the screening expe-riment for peadiatric and epidemiological investigation in which the complement activity is tested by using micro-amount of cappillary blood.

Key words: hemolytic activity complement, agarose gel, sensitized sheep erythrocytes, nonsensitized rabbit erythrocytes
