Abstract: Herpes simplex virus type 2(HSV-2)in cervical biopsy was determined by using im-munocytochemical technique in 42 cases with different cervical diseases. The results showed that there were the high frequence of positive immunoreaction in the squamous cell carcino-ma of cervix(88.9%),cervical polyps(77.8%)and chronic cervicitis(68.4%).On the other hand, all 5 cases with cervical adenocarcinoma and adenocarcinoma of endometrium invading the cervix were negative. This indicates that the pathological courses of squamons cell carci-noma of cervix, cervical polyps and chronic cervicitis have close correlation with the infection of HSV-2.Further study is needed for understanding the causality of those diseases and in-fection of HSV-2.
